Frequently asked questions

Practical details, clearly answered.

Questions about counseling, scheduling, and payment. For anything else, email Lisa directly.

What can I expect?

Lisa aims to create a welcoming, comfortable office where you can share your story at your own pace. A cup of coffee is available if you would like one. Early sessions are a chance to discuss what brings you to counseling and what you hope to change, with care and without judgment.

How often should I come, and for how long?

That depends on your goals and needs. Some people find a few sessions useful; others benefit from longer-term work. Weekly sessions often help build momentum, especially at the beginning, with time between sessions to practice new strategies. We can discuss a plan in our first session and adjust it together.

Is counseling confidential?

Counseling is generally confidential, subject to legal and ethical exceptions, such as certain safety concerns and mandatory reporting. Lisa can explain the limits of confidentiality and answer questions before you begin.

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes. Lisa offers virtual sessions through a secure client portal for English-speaking clients in Germany and, where appropriate, clients in Colorado. If you are traveling or cannot come to the office, ask Lisa whether a virtual session is available for your situation and location.

What if I need to cancel?

Please email at least 48 hours before your appointment to cancel or reschedule. A late cancellation fee applies with less notice, and missed appointments without notice are charged the full session rate. We will review the policy together before starting.

Who does Lisa work with?

Individuals and couples ages 16 and older. Her work includes anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma and PTSD, grief, divorce, abandonment, and relationship concerns. She has also worked with military and Special Operations families, expatriates, missionaries, teens, blended families, and adults on the autism spectrum.

How much does counseling cost?

Individual counseling is $140 for a 50-minute session or $210 for an 80-minute session. An 80-minute couples session is $240. Initial individual sessions are scheduled for 80 minutes. Please confirm the rate when you contact me.

Do you accept insurance?

Truth Counseling does not file insurance claims directly. Lisa can provide a monthly statement for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check coverage with your insurer. Using insurance often requires sharing personal information and a diagnosis with a third party, and coverage may limit the type or duration of care, especially couples counseling.

How can I pay?

U.S. clients can pay by cash, check, major credit card, FSA card, or HSA card through the secure client portal. Bank transfer may be available for eligible clients in Germany; ask Lisa for current payment instructions privately.

How do I know if counseling is right for me?

You can send a secure inquiry through SimplePractice or a brief email from the Contact page to ask whether counseling is a good fit. If Lisa's practice is not the right fit, she can help you think about a referral. Keep sensitive clinical details out of ordinary email.
